CHELSEA PREPARATORY SCHOOL
At Chelsea Preparatory School we are committed to providing all pupils with the tools that will empower them to excel in the classroom, in the dance studio, on the sports field, on the stage and into their next phase of education and through their lives.
PRINCIPAL’S WELCOME
A message from Mr. Maartens
Chelsea Preparatory School, founded in 1932 and known as Durban North Government School, was the very first school in Durban North. In 1987, the school changed its name to Chelsea Drive Senior Primary and after merging with Northway Junior Primary in 2000, became known as Chelsea Preparatory School.
IN THE CLASSROOM
The heart of Chelsea Prep is evident in the classroom, where pupils are empowered to develop thinking skills by engaging in interactive activities, many of which use technology as a tool for education. Pupils are given opportunities to explore, communicate, collaborate and create.
ON THE SPORTS FIELD
Pupils are encouraged to play as many sports as possible in an environment that aims to develop pupils to their full potential. On the sports field, pupils are empowered with the values of respect, sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline and dedication.
ON STAGE AND IN STUDIO
Pupils at Chelsea Prep are encouraged to express themselves creatively through music, movement, dance and art. Our extensive cultural programme inspires pupils to expand their imagination and develop self-confidence, whilst developing a love for the Arts.
SUPPORT TO PARENTS AND PUPILS
Chelsea Preparatory offers support to parents and pupils in a number of areas, from academic support to the ease of purchasing uniforms.
